Dr. Monica Meyer-Bohlen
ist Kunsthistorikerin und Kuratorin zahlreicher Ausstellungen vorwiegend junger Kunst und fachübergreifender Projekte. Zusammen mit dem Carsten Meyer-Bohlen führt sie inhaltlich die Upstairs Gallery mit dem Schwerpunkt Malerei, Fotografie und Medienkunst vielversprechender junger Künstlerinnen und Künstler.
Am Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg verantwortete Monica Meyer-Bohlen bis 2018 als Kuratorin das Projekt Art in Progress das den Dialog zwischen internationalen Künstlern und Wissenschaftlern fördert.
Sie war u.a. künstlerische Leiterin des fachübergreifenden Projekts Jaspers-Jahr der Carl von Ossietzky-Universität Oldenburg im Jahr 2008. Der umfangreiche Katalog mit dem Titel „Wahrheit ist was uns verbindet“ entstand zusammen mit PD Dr. Matthias Bormuth, teilnehmende Künstler und Künstlerinnen waren u.a. Olafur Eliasson und Peter Weibel.
Monica Meyer-Bohlen PhD, is an art historian and works as a curator. Together with her husband, Carsten Meyer-Bohlen, she defines the programme of the gallery which focuses mainly on painting, photography and media art. She establishes close contacts with young committed artists and she curated numerous exhibitions and inter-disciplinary projects in the past. She was artistic director of the Jaspers-Jahr project of Carl von Ossietzky-University of Oldenburg in 2008 and issued the art catalogue “Truth is what connects us” together with Matthias Bormuth PhD. The book emphasises connections between art and science as a central theme. Among 15 participating artists were Olafur Eliasson and Peter Weibel.
At the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg Monica Meyer-Bohlen was in charge of the project Art in Progress , promoting dialogues between art and science on an international level.
